FAQs

What is RACKLE?

Rackle is a US based footwear brand built on the principle of developing eco-friendly footwear to help lessen the shoe industry's impact on the planet, one pair at a time. According to the US Department of the Interior, over 300 million pairs of shoes are thrown away each year in the United States alone. Most shoe waste is comprised of non-biodegradable plastics, foam, leather and petroleum-based rubber materials that can take up to 80 - 150 years to naturally decompose. At Rackle, our goal is to produce comfortable, lightweight shoes, made with sustainable plant-based uppers and foam soles that accelerates bio-degradation.

What does Rackle mean when they say “REDUCE YOUR FOOTPRINT”?

Reduce Your Footprint = Lessen Your Impact on Planet Earth through the use of SUSTAINABLE Footwear. RACKLE FOOTWEAR - sustainable, accelerated bio-degradation, innovative technology, with superior comfort, everyday styling, and weighing in at only 6 oz - REDUCE YOUR FOOTPRINT.

How is Rackle footwear eco-friendly?

Rackle footwear is eco-friendly through our sustainable uppers and and foam soles that accelerates bio-degradation. Our 100% hemp uppers are extremely comfortable to wear all year-round and hemp is one of the most sustainable crops in the world. Rackle soles feature EcoPure®, a treated foam that promotes bio-degradation in a landfill much quicker than untreated foams, up to 30-50 times faster.

What is the makeup of a Rackle shoe?

Rackle footwear has a very unique design made up of 2 parts:

ONE PIECE HEMP UPPER - Sustainable and biodegradable. One piece means less seems and that equals more comfort.

ONE PIECE FOAM SOCKLINER/MIDSOLE/OUTSOLE - Your foot sits directly on top of the foam, bringing you closer to the soft, cushioned sole creating a ride you just have to feel.

What is hemp?

Hemp is a natural fiber that, for centuries, has been used for industrial use due to its many features and benefits. Hemp is comfortable, breathable, and cool to the touch. It is a luxurious textile that can be woven to be soft and fine or thick and durable. It is one of the strongest, natural fibers and its antibacterial properties as well as its resistance to UV rays make it ideal for everyday wear.

What are the benefits of using hemp for the shoes upper?

SUSTAINABLE PLANT-BASED UPPERS

Hemp is one of the most sustainable crops in the world. It thrives by absorbing CO2, requires no irrigation and can be harvested just three months after planting. Produced entirely without any pesticides, hemp easily outperforms fiber production per hectare versus cotton. One (1) acre of hemp will produce as much fiber as 2 to 3 acres of cotton. Also, hemp fiber is softer than cotton, lasts twice as long as cotton, is water-resistant and will not mildew. Industrial hemp, used in a variety of products such as paper, construction materials and food, has essentially zero THC in it.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS.

Our 100% hemp uppers are extremely comfortable to wear all year-round. Hemp is a naturally low thermally conductive fiber, which means that it's cool when it's hot and warm when it's not. Hemp is also inherently antimicrobial – as little as just 15% hemp combined with a neutral matrix (such as polyester) will kill 99.9% of present staph bacteria. Hemp is one of the strongest and lightest natural fibers on the planet and is resistant to degradation from UV rays and salt water. At one time, maritime sails and rigging were made from industrial hemp.

What is Rackle’s EcoPure® sole technology?

The technology is in our soles. Rackle soles feature EcoPure®, a treated foam that promotes bio-degradation, but does not compromise performance, appearance or shorten the useful life of the shoe. Our EcoPure® foam soles start to work (biodegrade) when in a microbe-rich environment, such as a landfill. The only difference is that the material will biodegrade* in a landfill much quicker than untreated foams that make up the vast majority of shoe midsoles, up to 30-50 times faster.

What is Free Foam Technology?

Rackle incorporates Free Foam Technology into every one of our lightweight shoes, through a combination of proprietary PLEXUS ARCH™ design and a specifically engineered Tri-density Foam Sole System.

What is Rackle’s proprietary PLEXUS ARCH™ design?

Our Research and Development team has engineered a new arch geometry that uses everyday movement (e.g. walking, etc.) to enhance the function of the wearer’s Plantar Venous Plexus Pump – the foot arch that is involved with the function of pumping the blood back up the leg from the foot. This stimulation, from the PLEXUS ARCH™, with its raised ribbed arch design, encourages all-day comfort and healthy blood flow. Ordinary footwear uses constructions that have little to no relationship to the anatomy of this foot pump area.

What is Rackle’s Tri-density Foam Sole System?

The unique Rackle cushioned ride feel comes from the TRI-DENSITY FOAM SOLE SYSTEM which incorporates our patent pending PLEXUS ARCH™ technology. Design and molding techniques are blended to create a variety of density areas throughout the sole. A softer center zone compresses more than the perimeter and the bottom tread of the shoe providing all day comfort to the wearer.
